SONOMA: Students Rising Above and the Boys and Girls Clubs of Sonoma Valley have announced a partnership to deliver college access programming on-site at the Club, beginning in the 2026-27 academic year.

Under the partnership, a dedicated Students Rising Above pre-college advisor will work alongside the Club's College and Career Program Manager, offering group workshops and one-on-one advising to juniors and seniors. Seniors get intensive application-year support: college list development, application help and financial aid completion. Juniors get the groundwork: eligibility review, college exploration and early planning.

The program targets the most common failure point in college access work, the moment support disappears after high school graduation. Seniors who complete the program can enroll in SOAR, Students Rising Above's college persistence program, which follows students from graduation through their degree with advising, mentorship, career development and emergency and basic-needs support.

Boys and Girls Clubs of Sonoma Valley already has what college access programs spend years trying to build: real, trusted relationships with young people and their families. This partnership lets us bring our advising expertise into a space where that trust already exists, so students don't just apply to college, they enter with a trusted advisor already in their corner.Students Rising Above, in the partnership announcement

The model pairs two different institutional strengths: the Club's deep local relationships with students and families, and Students Rising Above's specialized advising apparatus. It is a division of labor that makes sense in a small valley, where no single organization has to do everything alone.

The announcement did not detail enrollment targets or the advisor's schedule at the Club. The Post will check in as the school year gets underway.
